Kikagaku Moyo - Final song (and stage invader) Live - Manchester Deaf Institute 21/06/17
Brilliant set is drawing to a close when someone decides to climb onto the stage mid song and gets dragged off, pulling out the guitarists cords while doing so. I carried on filming to catch an extra revved up finale.

The White Stripes - Let's Build a Home/Goin' Back To Memphis (The Peel Sessions
Просмотров 11 тыс.13 лет назад
A John Peel Session for BBC Radio. Starting with Jack White and John Peel trying to remember a song and who they were going to dedicate it to when suddenly, "well let's stop that and start this...WHOOOOO" and we're into two classics warped together, fighting electrical problems, guitars like violins and with astonishing propulsion - the half-second pause at the end before applause is all you ne...
The White Stripes - Death Letter (Son House cover, The Peel Sessions)
Просмотров 18 тыс.13 лет назад
A John Peel Session for BBC Radio. The White Stripes rip holes through the immortal Son House classic 'Death Letter' (itself based on "My Black Mama, Part 2" from 1930) trumping all other versions including their own previous studio effort. Ending the song in three different ways before finally settling on the originally intended notes this is a brilliant rendition of a classic blues staple "wi...
The White Stripes - Jolene (Dolly Parton Cover, The Peel Sessions)
Просмотров 5 тыс.13 лет назад
A John Peel Session for BBC Radio. To my ears the best version of this song ever commanded to tape. John Peel interjects at the end with "These are not people who believe in holding back" and truer words were never spoken on his show (except those about The Fall).
C.W Stoneking - Hard Time Killing Floor (Skip James Cover)
Просмотров 14 тыс.13 лет назад
Stunning reworking of the Skip James original 'Hard Time Killin' Floor Blues' from C.W Stoneking's 2006 album 'Mississippi & Piedmont Blues 1927-41'. Several of Skip James recordings from this era (early 1930's), such as "Devil Got My Woman", "Jesus Is A Mighty Good Leader", and "22-20 Blues" (the basis for Robert Johnson's better-known "32-20 Blues", and the band name for the English group 22-...

The White Stripes - Baby Blue (Gene Vincent Cover, The Peel Sessions)
Просмотров 24 тыс.13 лет назад
A John Peel Session for BBC Radio with The White Stripes running out of songs to play, they do a brilliant rendition of the Gene Vincent classic 'Baby Blue', with Jack exclaiming at the end "That's for you John". The second Peel session was recorded on the date 11/08/2001.
The White Stripes - Lord, Send Me An Angel Down/ Dead Leaves on The Dirty Ground (The Peel Sessions)

A John Peel Session for BBC Radio, including a cover of Blind Willie McTell's 'Lord, Send Me An Angel Down' instead of Hello Operator. The second Peel session was recorded on the date 11/08/2001.
Amazing
A lot of jiving and more of the same
If anyone has a cd of this - get in touch, id love to have this album in my long car drives through southern australia
Oh, yeah!
Where it’s at
Excellent performance 👍
Great singer. I hope he'll release a new album some day.
Thanks for covering Gene Vincent
Best tune ive heard today ❤
I can't come up with a better comment, so put your fingers in my hands and Let's Watch the video
Heavy metal meets the south. Very deep and well done by The Stripes. 🌟😇🇦🇺
Yeah he’s not a black man from the south but honestly this right here is the benchmark version of this song for me personally. Stoneking is absolutely amazing and makes me proud be say he’s Australian. This whole album is pure raw blues
Unfortunately most of us will never get to hear this album in full. But yeah, this here cover version is fricken great. Try his version of "Seven Nation Army" and "Dry Spell Blues", they too are available here on yt and are equally stunning.
@@elwray3506 I’ve had this album for about 15 years on an old hard drive. I need to find it and upload it. I’ve got the one he did before it too with the blue tits I think they were called
@@blackadder8691 Yeah, C.W. Stoneking and The Blue Tits. Man, If you could actually do this I´d be forever in your debt.
Whats this album called?
The current artist who gets closest to the original sound of the blues.
I'm just now getting into Stoneking's work but DAMN, his vocal inflection ties so well into the original recording but somehow he still manages to make it his own.
love CW.
So happy to stumble up on this little gem
Voice of a long time lingering ache in my pinched rear...
Very first time seeing this song and am happy to have something to listen to while my company yells and tries to blame me for as many things they can then disapear
My great aunt, Carol Smith, rest her soul wrote this song for Gene Vincent. At the time, the idea of a woman working in the creative side of the music industry was nearly unheard of so she used the name "Bobbie Carol" to help remove the gender bias. She had a very successful career writing many great honky tonk, country, rockabilly, doo-wop and early rock and roll. Even in retirement she continued to write music for her church's annual Christmas play. She was a wonderful lady and hearing one of my all-time favorite bands performing one of my favorite songs of hers makes me proud!
Wow, hearing that story is amazing to me, thank you so much. I am a massive gene vincent fan, I own a couple of letters and autographs from him. Genius.
Glad to share!
Wow thanks for sharing
why is there no comments here?
Hopefully people are speechless
looks like cw 's cd is harder to come by skip james original 78..everybody wants it nobodies gots it
Yup, he´s the Yeti of the blues.
What other songs are on this album of his?!
Anyone got a more recent way to access the songs on this album?
Would like to know how
Man this is amazing!
Yes
I always come back to these recordings. John would have been over the moon yet pretending to be busy so nobody caught on. Miss that guy
This is sick.
0:50 jack's voice omega
This is so good. Its ineffable.
Man, if he did an album of blues covers, tampa red, huddie, Robert Johnson, son house, John lee hooker, Charlie patton, blind Willie mctell, etc, I would buy it, and wear it down to threads. I love his voice
He did, it's just put of print and impossible to get. This is off it.
I have a copy. I need to upload it. And the blue tits album
This is spontaneous combustion.
Brilliant. Made me smile!
this is ever so fucking juicy.thank you uploader
I had the vinyl of this live show and this is the only version of this song I like
Jack... I miss this voice baby~
Yeah, the acoustic stuff just released is a good hark-back too.
greatest stripes performance. Jack was out to prove to the world.
Jack White playing Death Letter is like a religious experience.
So fucking alive !!!!! wow!!!!!
the soundtrack our lives... rock n roll yeah
BLUES ROCK AWESOME
Wonderful!
so powerful, here we have so much passion and blood, amazing 👏
This track is something else.
Thank you! It is genius, the whole cd is. Just saw him in London a week ago, as usual, stunning.
+cruiserscreek I was in London too! I was the one who yelled and then they played "Mama Got The Blues!"
What a great gig it was, you could tell he was a little surprised by the reacton - personally i've only ever seen him before in small dives in Manchester...which is also great but he deserves better by now!
ferocity.
I'm with John Peel on this one. Gene did his own unique takes covering some classics (e.g. 'Summertime'). My view is he would be tipping a Blue Cap to this brilliant cover, done as a tribute to one of the greats.
I love live Death Letter ESPECIALLY when he morphs it into Little Bird at the end. (It's rare but theres a few of them)
Anyone know I can get my hands on copy of this record?
I'm afraid it was only ever released on cd and that is very hard to find. the title of the album is "Mississippi & Piedmont Blues 1927-41" and to be honest is stunning all the way through. here are a small selection of songs from the album to listen to hassle free - grooveshark.com/#!/album/Mississippi+and+Piedmont+Blues+1/3274926 - the actual album was about 13/14 from what i remember.
Love it! Let us know if your like our videos!
This one is better, great work
the guitar solos in this are great! to compare this guy to Clapper is silly! his interpretation is his own, why not accept that?
these guys were fucking good! love their take on delta blues music! the original recordings(son house, Robert johnstone etc) are fabulous but these boys are magic! did they break up?
The white stripes were Jack White and Meg White, they split because Meg had stage anxiety. Jack White has many other projects going on, he is the greatest force in rock music right now and one of the only people keeping this stuff alive, check out his solo stuff, the raconteurs and the dead weather. Jack is definitely worth checking out, he is an amazing person in general.
Blind Willie McTell
gone daddy-o !!! gene would b proud!!!
